Councils upgrading Grit Bin cover even earlier
Responding to the worst winter in 30 years many Councils are currently reviewing their Cold Weather performance in the ‘warmer’ light of day. High on the agenda will are Grit Bins. Were there enough and what state are they now in?
Commenting on the situation Paul Black, General Manager at LINPAC Environmental says ‘we are seeing much more interest in our
Grit Bins than we would usually do at this time of year. The feedback that we are getting is that many Local Authorities have reviewed their road and pavement gritting activity in the light of, not only this winter, but two successive bad winters. Clearly the public have been calling for more Grit Bins in housing estates and the replacement of units that have been damaged in service.
With the scale of work required many Councils are not waiting until later in the year to put upgrade programs in place but are acting now. This is useful because with longer lead times we are able to work with customers and help them get them the best value for money’.
Customers wishing to discuss long term Grit Bin supply requirements are asked to call Customer Services at LINPAC Environmental on 01225 816500.
